Bremen's old town with its pear-shaped outline was enclosed by the Bremen city wall in the Middle Ages. Where once walls enclosed the city centre, today important connecting links and inviting addresses are characteristic elements of a long history. The streets Schüsselkorb, Museumstraße and Bischofsnadel connect the pedestrian zone and Domshof and lead directly to Bremen's ramparts. If you are looking for something special, this neighbourhood is the place to be.

Surrounded by the beautiful greenery of the Wallanlagen, the shopping street "Am Wall" stretches from the old town to the railway station. It was created in the 19th century, and over the decades the section between Herdentor and "Altenwall" in particular has become an address that not only makes the hearts of architecture enthusiasts beat faster, but above all offers a multitude of exclusive shops.

Shopping and relaxation in all weather conditions

Thanks to the covered promenade, the wide range of restaurants, cafés, bars, retail and services can be enjoyed whatever the weather. While window shopping, you'll discover furniture shops, boutiques, bookshops and galleries. If you are looking for something special and exclusive, the mostly owner-operated shops are your right contacts.

Reading fun and culinary delights on the Wall

The police and municipal library buildings directly on the Wall also mark the transition to the district. For reading enthusiasts in particular, there is much to discover in the municipal library, but regular events for young and old also take place here. For a break in between, the Forum am Wall offers an exciting selection of international gastronomy. Canova in the Kunsthalle, Lemon Lounge, Craft Beer Bar and the Wallmühle are always worth a visit.

Did you know?

The Wallanlagen opposite the shopping boulevard am Wall are a small oasis of peace. Over 200 years ago, Bremen's fortifications were located here. When these became redundant, a place for recreation and culture was created here.
